Hey Mr. New Farm sits along Moray Street as a quietly unassuming spot favored by locals who appreciate a relaxed café experience without the usual bustle of busy Brisbane brunch destinations. Its setting is perfect for beating the weekday rush or easing into a weekend morning, especially if you enjoy sitting outside under the footpath awning where the subtle hum of Moray Street blends with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

The cafe attracts a mix of early risers on bikes or foot, local workers dropping by for a quick caffeine fix, and neighbors settling in for all-day brunch. Seating inside offers a cozy escape where conversation can flow without competing with street noise, though it does get noticeably livelier and a bit louder during peak times. For those who prefer a quieter scene, arriving before mid-morning usually means a more laid-back atmosphere.

Coffee here leans on quality and presentation, with highlights like oat latte art and a chai latte that caters well to diverse tastes, including those looking for plant-based alternatives. The menu reflects an eclectic, ingredient-driven approach, bridging classic brunch staples with inventive twists — think Karaage French Toast alongside savory potato waffles with haloumi and chorizo hash benedict. Portions generally balance well with price, though some patrons find certain dishes smaller than expected.

Food-wise, freshness is clearly a priority, with ingredients like organic gourmet mushrooms and thick cut bacon cooked with care. The accompanying sides and bowls fill out the meal for those wanting something a bit heartier. Service is friendly and swift, making it an easy choice when time is short but quality matters.

In short, Hey Mr. New Farm works well for locals and visitors seeking a spot that prioritizes uncomplicated, flavorful brunch and good coffee without the crowd-induced noise or wait times common in busier café hubs. If you're after a place to slowly sip an oat latte while watching New Farm wake up or fuel up before heading off on a weekend bike ride, this café is aligned with those rhythms.

A small and relaxed suburban cafe along Moray Street. We arrived on bikes, no problem finding a spot to park the bikes. Choice of inside dining or outside under the footpath awning. Brissy during an early spring morning, outside every time. Friendly and fast service, we ordered coffees, these were good and arrived promptly. Busy without being insane, noise not a problem, Moray Street is busy but not intrusive.

Loved their matcha and nasi goreng! A bit expensive for the serving size. Almond milk as milk alternative is too sweet

The ingredients in the food were so fresh. The combination of the ingredients worked very well. One downfall was my mum’s eggs were hard when she asked for softly poached eggs. The pickled veggies were a nice touch to the bowl. Our coffees tasted delicious, and the customer service was welcoming and warm.

What a delightful breakfast spot! We walked there from our nearby accommodation so I cannot comment on the parking. However - the meals were delicious!! The atmosphere was loud. We were seated somewhat quickly as a couple had finished up and offered their table to us. We sat inside & I could hardly hear my fiancé speak. Luckily we were just there to eat and not chat haha the coffee was perfection too! The bacon was thick cut, hash browns oversized, mushrooms well seasoned - overall 10/10.
